Boot error when deploying with ARD
  • I followed the instructions on deploying with Apple Remote Desktop, but the imaging section fails to create a bootable Windows 7 64-bit partition. When I use the Winclone.app in Target disk mode with the target iMac it works as expected.
The BOOTCAMP partition shows up in the Mac OS and is selectable from Startup disk, but when I reboot I get the "windows boot manager" error asking to reboot into installation DVD and repair computer.
    Status: 0xc0000225
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Keyboard and mouse don't work at this point. The two iMacs that I'm using are the same model and the Windows 7 image was built on the same model.
Is there a way to add a variable to the command sent in ARD to the target iMac to repair BCD if that is the problem? or what can I try to narrow it down?
  • Let me look into it.

  • I found that adding the BCD portion allowed it to work correctly.

    cd /Users/Shared/win7ent_nosysprep.winclone; ./winclone.perl -image_dir=. -q -restore -ntfs_partition=/dev/disk0s4 -copy_bcd=./BCD
  • Excellent. Thanks for letting us know.

  • We found the problem, and have a temporary solution. Please see this link: http://www.twocanoes.com/forums/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/546#Comment_546
